Secrets Outed on Twitter
Recently a phone sex operator (PSO) with a popular Twitter feed was “outed” to her family by a jealous rival. Evidently, he threatened to tell her sister about her Twitter account unless she give him the name of an editor. I can only go by what I’ve read and obviously can’t have all the details.
Yes, the guy was a dickhead to expose someone’s secret life for whatever reason. Yes, it was a lower than pond scum thing to do.
BUT
If you’re going to have a secret life – you gotta keep it a secret! A secret is a thing you keep to yourself and not share with anyone. No matter how safe you feel in telling it to someone and thinking they’re your friend its going to get out. Someone, somewhere, sometime is going to want to use that secret against you in some way the way this guy did.
If you’re going to be anonymous, be anonymous and stay that way. No one needs to know your details unless you tell them.
Of course the secrets you tell me on the phone are a different matter. I am your secret keeper aren’t I? I would never ever ever use those naughty little secrets against you of course, unless you made me now would I?
